What is breast augmentation, and how can it improve your appearance? Here’s how it works.

Common Reasons for Breast Augmentation

There are numerous reasons you may want to change the shape and size of your breasts. It’s common for women to experience breast changes throughout their lives, prompting them to desire certain alterations.

Small Breasts

Both genetics and weight loss can cause your breasts to remain small. This may be challenging for you if you want a certain breast size.

It can be hard to find clothing you find flattering when you wish that your chest was larger. Breast augmentation increases the volume of your breasts so that you don’t have to stay concerned about your smaller breast size.

Uneven Breasts

All chests are not perfectly symmetrical. You may have uneven breasts, with one breast that’s larger or more shapely than the other.

This is an easy fix with breast augmentation surgery. We even out the size and shape of both of your breasts to give your chest an even appearance.

Sagging Breasts and Volume Loss

Many women who have experienced pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging, or major weight loss must deal with sagging, less voluminous breasts.

Breast augmentation restores youthful volume to your breasts and combats sagging. This is especially true when you combine a breast lift and augmentation procedure.

Breast Augmentation with Implants

Implants are the most common form of breast augmentation. Breast implants maintain a round breast shape while increasing the size of your chest.

Types of Breast Implants

The two most commonly used types of breast implants are silicone implants and saline implants. Each has its own set of benefits.

Saline implants are firmer and give your chest a perkier appearance. Younger patients often seek saline implants for their noticeable roundness and lifted aesthetic.

Silicone implants feel more natural and softer compared to saline implants. If authentic breast texture is important to you, silicone implants are your best bet.

The Breast Augmentation Procedure

We make incisions around your breast to access the natural tissue where we’ll place your implants. We make every effort to place the incisions wherever scars will be the least noticeable.

After we make the incisions, we place your breast implants and arrange them around your natural tissue. We place some implants behind your pectoral muscles, while others rest behind your natural breast tissue.

Once your implants are properly placed, we close the incisions, and the surgery is complete.

This procedure requires general anesthesia, so you will spend a few hours waking up and resting in our office. In some cases, patients must stay overnight after their breast augmentation procedures

Recovery

After your breast augmentation procedure, you will need to arrange for a ride home. You should wear a highly supportive bra in the following weeks to ensure that you remain comfortable and your breasts settle into the proper position.

It takes a few months for your breasts to take their final place on your chest. During this time, they may appear unusually lifted and perky. This goes away after the recovery period.

Fat Transfer: Breast Augmentation the Natural Way

Some patients prefer to skip breast implants but still want larger, more shapely breasts. Fat transfer breast augmentation uses your unwanted body fat to enlarge and reshape your chest. This is a more natural breast augmentation procedure.

Sometimes known as autologous breast augmentation, this technique is less difficult for your body to recover from. Is autologous breast augmentation right for you? Learn more below.

Harvesting Your Body Fat

We use liposuction to remove unwanted body fat from various areas of your body. This makes fat transfer breast augmentation a two-for-one procedure: You get rid of unsightly fat and transfer it to a better location.

During the procedure, our liposuction device gently suctions stubborn fat from your abdomen, thighs, buttocks, or other areas. Once we remove the fat, we process it to purify it.

Injecting Fat into Your Breasts

When your unwanted body fat is ready for transfer, we inject it into your breasts. We use special techniques to ensure that you get the breast shape and size you want.

Since we purify the fat cells we have extracted from other areas of your body, your breasts will likely respond well to the injection process.

There’s much less recovery time associated with fat transfer breast augmentation than with traditional breast augmentation. This natural breast augmentation method works well for many patients.

Breast Lift and Augmentation

If you struggle with sagging or drooping breasts, a breast lift and augmentation procedure may be best for you. During this procedure, we perform a breast lift and either transfer fat to your breasts or place implants.

Skin aging and sagging can make your breasts look older than you’d like. A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, can make your chest look perkier and more youthful.
