Coolsculpting induced PAH

Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia also known as PAH can occur when the nonsurgical fat-freezing technology cause fat cells to enlarge rather than shrink. The reason for this reversal of fat is not very well known yet.  However, some people think that the cooling effect has some sort of stimulatory stem-cell activation, which causes multiplication of fat cells

Liposuction is the preferred treatment for PAH, but since previously frozen fat is essentially denatured—firm, scarred down, fibrotic—it can be quite difficult to remove, especially in a single operation. PAH treatment may require more than one treatment. We often combine the use of other technologies to treat PAH. Our surgeons are experts in treating PAH.
