What is liposuction?

Liposuction is one of the more common procedures clients come in seeking. While there are multiple variations to the procedure, the basic purpose remains the same: to create natural contours by removing excess adipose tissue. This is accomplished by making multiple small incisions. Then, a cannula, or very small tube, is inserted under the skin to help draw out excess fat. During your consultation, we’ll review the entire procedure in-depth, so you know exactly what to expect from treatment.

Am I a good candidate for liposuction?

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to tell without a consultation. After all, each patient is different. During your visit, we’ll go over your concerns, your goals, and your medical history. After gathering this information, specific procedures can be recommended.

That being said, liposuction is a surgical procedure. As a result, you need to be healthy enough to undergo surgery. Additionally, liposuction is not designed to remove large amounts of fat. Rather, the procedure is best suited to contour areas that are difficult to improve through diet and exercise.

What kind of results can I expect?

Many of our clients seek help after months or even years of diet and exercise. Despite all this hard work, there are still stubborn fat deposits standing in contrast to their natural body curves.

This is where liposuction comes in. The procedure is designed to remove or contour excess adipose tissue, or fat. Afterwards, your hips and thighs will look smoother. Please, discuss the exact shape you’d like with our staff; this will help ensure that you can achieve the results you desire.

What should I expect during recovery?

Because liposuction is a surgical procedure, please plan to take it easy for a few weeks afterwards. Recovery time, however, depends on the size and location of the targeted area. Expect some bruising and mild discomfort as your body heals. While you will see a difference right away, the full effect takes a few weeks to develop.

Of course, our staff will provide tailored recovery instructions to you. Please follow these directions; they are important for a safe and effective recovery. If you have any concerns during your recovery period, please give us a call.
